BOCCHI, Lorenzo (Erste Hälfte des 18.Jh.)
Lorenzo Bocchi was an Italian cellist and gambist who worked in Scotland and Ireland in the first half of the 18th century and who was a highly regarded musician in these countries. His two gamba sonatas in this edition have been published around 1724 in Dublin. In addition our edition contains Bocchis arrangement of an Irish tune for viola da gamba or violoncello and bass with four variations. Ad libitum a chorus can be added of one or several violins playing a kind of refrain, which amplifies the special charm of this piece.
