Anonymus, Lübecker Violadagamba Solo.
VdG+Bc
The collection of manuscripts D.249 of the Bodleian Library in Oxford also contains sonatas for viola da gamba by composers who worked in the German town of Lübeck, as e.g. the well-known Solo in D major by Buxtehude. It also contains this anonymous sonata. The musical content of this piece is unique and surpasses by far that of the other "Lübecker" pieces in this manuscript. The publication of this sonata surely represents an important addition to the generally available viola da gamba repertoire.
